Versa Mark Ink Technques

Versa Mark ink is one of the staples that should be in all stampers supply box. As always, we recommend that you have the ink refresher on hand to renew your pad as needed.

What is Versa Mark Ink?

This ink helps you create a number of techniques because of it's properties. The ink is thicker, and somewhat sticky. This allows the ink to be used with embossing powders. It dries slowly which gives you time to create a number of fun, unique images. It is a clear ink which makes it very versatile.

It comes in a standard size pad, a small cube and a pen for small areas. Of course there is a reinker .
The pen is handy to have around to correct any messes or misses that you might have.

Two tools that are essential to these techniques are very reasonable in price. The first one is a powder bag that is used to coat the paper before you start any embossing techniques. That will help keep the powder on the stamped image and make the project much neater.

The second product is an eraser that works with craft ink and embossing powders. Helps you erase any little mistakes.

Versa Mark Ink Techniques

  • One use that most of us are familiar with for Versa Mark ink is to emboss stamped images. It makes a clear beautiful image when used with embossing powder.
  • Use a ruler to draw straight lines on a page. Allow the ink to dry. You now have discreet journaling lines.
  • Did you know that you can stamp with a color, then stamp the same image with the Versa Mark ink and emboss with clear embossing powder for a unique one-of-a-kind image. This is a great idea when you do not have an embossing powder color that you might want to use.
  • Glossy paper ink resist. Stamp your image with Versa Mark ink. Select an ink color and cover the paper with the ink using a blending tool. Allow the ink to dry. Wipe away any excess ink. This can be used with regular paper, but glossy paper works best.
  • Adding glitter is easy when you use Versa Mark ink. First stamp the image with the ink. Cover the image with heat and stick powder. Heat with a heat gun till the powder barely melts. Then sprinkle a fine glitter over the top and heat again.
  • Water Coloring works much better when you stamp the image with Versa Mark ink. Stamp the image and allow to dry. The watercolors will stay within the image!
  • How about using pastels and chalks with versa Mark ink. The ink holds the color.
  • Blend one or more inks all over your paper with a blending tool. Allow to dry. Stamp an image on the paper with the Versa Mark ink. Cover with embossing powder. Heat the powder with a heat gun. Then cover the entire paper with black ink. Wipe excess ink off with a tissue. All the images will appear.
  • Write a word or phrase with the Versa Mark pen. Add embossing powder and heat emboss.

We hope that you will give some of these techniques a try! They are lots of fun and a great way to get extra use out of your Versa mark ink pads.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Cute Unicorn Card

We also wanted something that would catch her attention. The stamp set was one that I got from a magazine. It was one of those sets that often is included when you get stamping magazines. So, I am unable to identify it. It also had the hearts, flowers and a mouse and dolphin (more about the dolphin on another day. The set also had some dies for the animals, but not for the flowers. Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results.
