Card Shapes-Fun Folds

We all fall into the habit of making the same card bases without even thinking about it. Well, today's tutorial is all about creating greeting cards with a twist of something different and special. It's time to climb out of your routine and challenge yourself to try something new and creative.

Welcome to my journey as I qualify to become an Altenew Certified Instructor. Thank you to everyone who has been following my journey. I have certainly had the opportunity to grow as a crafter through the weeks of both Level 1 as well as Level 2. My journey has taken me down paths I never would have followed on my own. The classes have been both educational and entertaining.

Today's tutorial uses one of my truly favorite stamp sets. This layered stamp set is perfect for beginners and experienced stampers as well. It seems that every stamp set that I try becomes a favorite in the line. But Calming Reverie is a set that I plan to use often. Not only on my cards, but also on my scrapbooks and journals.

The nice thing about this set is that both the rose and the leaves only have two layers. And because of their size, they are so easy to line up. Plus, the sentiment is different. It makes for a clean and crisp project.

Both of these cards use basically the same supplies and products. My goal was to show you how to use them with just a twist in the way the bases were cut. Having said all that let's get started.,

Card One-Triangle Card

https://www.blogger.com/blog/posts/6476109068578986864
  1. Base card is measured at 5" by 7"
  2. Cut the green inside piece at 5" by 7"
  3. The cut line starts at the top and goes down an angle leaving 1.5" at the base. You want to have a sharp blade to cut this line. You can eyeball it or measure it out.
  4. Stamp the base stamp of the leaf on white paper with the Frayed Leaf ink. You will want three leaves for this project. Give it a minute to dry.
  5. Stamp the top layer of the leaves with the Moss ink. Set them aside to dry.
  6. Stamp the base of the flower on white cardstock with the Mango Smoothie ink. Give that a minute to dry.
  7. Then stamp the second layer of the flower with the Autumn Blaze ink.
  8. Use the inside of the flower detail stamps to add the stamens and inside of the flower.
  9. Using a pair of detail scissors, cut out the flower and the leaves.
  10. Adhere the leaves to the card front with the glue pen
  11. Use the foam squares to adhere the flower as shown. Lay out the foam blocks so that none of them are on the overhang of the flower.
  12. Stamp the sentiment and layer green and yellow cardstock as shown.
  13. Adhere the sentiment to the upper right-hand corner of the card.
  14. Adhere gems to the card with the tacky glue.
  15. Use the Stickles to add detail to the inside of the flower.

You can use whatever cuts on the card front that appeal to you. Use your creativity to create your own custom cuts.
We used the glue pen to lay the leaves flat. That almost gives an inlay type of look to them.
Use colors that work for you that you may have in your stash. Make sure to stay within the same color family to achieve the best results.
A stamp platform like a Misti or a Stamp Wheel make layering your stamps much easier. But you can use an acrylic block because this set is so easy to work with,

Card 2-Wrap Card

  1. Base card is measured at 5" by 6.5"
  2. Cut the green inside piece at 5" by 6.5"
  3. The cut lines for this twist were more eyeballed than measured. The measurement at the opening of the card was 2.75". Again, you can create any lines that appeal to you!
  4. Stamp the base stamp of the leaf on white paper with the Frayed Leaf ink. I used three leaves plus a few extras for this design. .
So, there you have my design for cards with a bit of a twist. Are you daring enough to create some crazy cuts on your cards?

I hope that you will take out some stamps, ink and some paper and give it a try. As always, we would love to hear your thoughts, ideas and comments. We always love hearing from you.

Till next time, Happy Crafting!

Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results. What It Takes To Create An Advanced Ink Layering Technique

Today we are sharing with you some advanced ideas and techniques in ink layering. We are also sharing some additional ideas to help you take your greeting cards to the next level. We are featuring a new tutorial as part of my Level Three accreditation in the AECP (Altenew Educator Certification Program). This is a program that I have been working through for some time. My goal has been to be able to learn and share with you the best ideas and techniques to help you be the best paper crafter you can be.  There are actually 5 levels of layering classes in this program. The project that I am focusing on is a more intricate stamp set called. Climbing Clematis.  There are actually 6 layers to the main flowers and several layers to each of the coordinating flowers. The coordinating flowers add a natural touch to the design.  Here are some of the techniques that I am focusing on for this tutorial: All About Layering 1-5 All About Layering Dies Edition Layering Guides Layering guides are an es

Organize Your Stamps

Have you ever gone to look for a particular stamp set that you know that you have and have been frustrated because you could not find that special set to finish a project? Have you ever found s loose stamp and could not figure out where that particular stamp set went?  Do not feel bad, we have all been there. Today, hopefully we are going to help you get your stamp sets organized, easy to find, and give you more time to have fun! If you are a stamp artist, then you know how much we love our stamp sets. Some of us think that collecting stamps is like another hobby! We love our stamps, and we love using them. But like any other tool, you need to care for your stamps. Part of that is organizing your stamps so that you can find what you need quickly and easily. We all get frustrated when our craft area is a hot mess! There are a lot of different things in our lives demanding our attention. And we want to spend time blowing off steam and relaxing in our craft space, I guarantee that takin
