Simple Scrapbook Page Ideas

Creating simple scrapbook pages is one of the things to consider when you have a lot of pages to do. Don't get me wrong, I love to see those beautiful pieces of artwork that show up on the internet. But simple can be as equally nice, especially when you are faced with a huge number of pictures and pages to get done.

Simple layouts are perfect for outdoor or masculine pages.

Start with either a solid or colored piece of cardstock as your base. You want your base page to be heavy enough to hold your other elements. If you have a lovely piece of printed cardstock, but it is light, adhere it onto a solid piece of cardstock.

The size of your page is dependent on the size of the album it will be kept in. The most popular size is 12inches by 12 inches. There are smaller sizes that you can use too.

Never use glue sticks for your pages. The glue does not last over time and parts of your page will start coming apart.

  • Add a little color with a mounted photo. You can use photo corners to add more depth. Just cut the mounting pieces slightly larger than the photo itself. Mount the photo with double sided tape. Never use glue on photos. I have found that glue sticks will eventually dry up and not be long-lasting.
  • Move the pictures around till you find the layout that works best for you.
  • Add a simple title, Use letters, title stickers, or computer-generated titles.
  • Remember, to identify the people in the pictures for future generations.

The trick to keeping it simple is to let the pictures tell the story. Use embellishments but keep them simple. In the layout above, I used 1-inch strips to enhance the background. Then I cut 1-inch squares to make the diamonds. I added gold sequins and some Nuvo drops to finish the layout. The trick was to keep the same colors in everything I did

Clean and simple layout for a masculine page

This layout shows how simple a page can be. It has all the elements of a scrapbook page. Everything on the page is layered. It has a title; the pictures are mounted, and it has some journaling. Doing masculine pages is sometimes challenging. I like to keep them clean and simple.

Just a few embellishments add layers.

The birds were the real focus of this layout. So, once again, I kept it clean and simple. Just added a few colors to layer and catch the eye.

Used a base page and then half of a patterned paper.

This was a little different. I used the brown color cardstock as the base. Then I cut a patterned piece of paper and cut it in half. I mounted it with double-sided adhesive tape. Mounted the pictures in a color that was in the patterned paper and added some stickers,

Other Ideas For Simple Scrapbook Pages

  1. I keep scraps from other projects to use in mounting photos. Scraps are also good for mounting pieces under, titles, quotes, and stickers.
  2. Mix it up! Use pattern paper with solid colors.
  3. Use vertical or horizontal lines to keep it simple.
  4. You can always add more to it later!
  5. Find a font that matches your theme.

Titles

Keep your titles simple. They can be placed on the top if the page, the side or even the bottom,
  1. Create a title with letters on hand. Mix and match different colors and sizes.
  2. Use your electronic cutting machine to create a title.

Separate Your Pages Into Sections

You can use strips of paper or borders made with dies to make sections that tell stories in each area. Adding smaller headings or journaling to explain each section.

You can also separate sections of your page with washi tape.

Embellishments

Embellishments add that little touch of design that make even the simplest page shine. You can create elements from the computer programs on your electronic cutting machine. Just type in the theme of your page and your choices should come up.

Create embellishments using your files in your cutting machine. Just type in the theme of your page or layout and see what is available.

Another way to add additional design elements is to use die cuts. Anytime you cut a die, make some extra for future uses on your scrapbook pages.

Simple stickers are the easiest to add to your page. They are themed in just about any theme you can imagine,

You can use stamps to create simple elements.

We all love designing totally artistic layouts that simply knock your eyes out! But I also think that there is room in my scrapbooks for some clean and simple pages too. Drop a comment below and let us know what you think.

Till next time Happy Crafting!

Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results. What It Takes To Create An Advanced Ink Layering Technique

Today we are sharing with you some advanced ideas and techniques in ink layering. We are also sharing some additional ideas to help you take your greeting cards to the next level. We are featuring a new tutorial as part of my Level Three accreditation in the AECP (Altenew Educator Certification Program). This is a program that I have been working through for some time. My goal has been to be able to learn and share with you the best ideas and techniques to help you be the best paper crafter you can be.  There are actually 5 levels of layering classes in this program. The project that I am focusing on is a more intricate stamp set called. Climbing Clematis.  There are actually 6 layers to the main flowers and several layers to each of the coordinating flowers. The coordinating flowers add a natural touch to the design.  Here are some of the techniques that I am focusing on for this tutorial: All About Layering 1-5 All About Layering Dies Edition Layering Guides Layering gu...

Cute Unicorn Card

Today I need to create a bright and cheerful birthday card for my great granddaughter who is turning three. I wanted something that would express her great grandpa's and my love for her. We also wanted something that would catch her attention. The stamp set was one that I got from a magazine. It was one of those sets that often is included when you get stamping magazines. So, I am unable to identify it. It also had the hearts, flowers and a mouse and dolphin (more about the dolphin on another day. The set also had some dies for the animals, but not for the flowers.
