Organize And Purging Your Craft Space-

My craft space has never been quite this bad, but the image goes a long way to prove a point. As paper crafters, we collect stuff. We of course collect paper and never throw away those paper scraps !

We collect stamps,ink pads dies, glitter, tools, and a whole lot more. And as time goes on, our collections grow.

And we love to mess with our stuff. Try as we may, things do get out of hand.

If you are a neat paper crafter, you have my total respect. I love to see pictures of those spotless craft spaces ! But for a lot of us, things sometimes get way ahead of us. We wind up with stuff that we even forgot why we bought it in the first place. Sometimes we cannot find things. And once in a while, we wind up with duplicates of the same thing.

So recently, I had gotten to a place where I knew it was time to do a little reorganizing and some purging. Spent several days at it. And I have to say, now that I have gotten past the worst of it, it feels good !

So for the next week or so we will be passing along some of my ideas along with some of the ideas of other folks to help you get comfortable no matter how large or small your craft space may be.

So, when you think of purging your craft space, you look around and say to yourself, " Ok, what do I want to get rid of?"

That is really a hard concept, because each item within your space has a value associated with it. It might be a monetary value, because at some time you bought it. It might be a sentimental value because maybe it was your Mom's scissors. It might be a personal value. You may have bought that item to try to do a particular technique, someday,

So instead of thinking about throwing things away, why not think about it in a different way. Ask yourself, " What do I want to keep?" When you change your mindset, it is a far more pleasant experience.

No matter how big or small your craft space is, It is going to seem like a huge heavy task ! Tomorrow we are going to start breaking it down step by step.

Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards. For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. Create Metallic Stripped Card-Everything You Need To Know

Have you ever considered using metallic embossing powders in an entirely different way to create a custom card that will long be treasured by the recipient of this wonderful art form? I was super impressed by this technique in a recent class that I took at Altenew on Progressive Card Making. I have always enjoyed using embossing powders. Using them has been a passion of mine.
