The Kids Papercraft Corner-The Beaverbot Cardboard Cutting System

Today in the Kids Papercraft Corner we are reviewing and sharing a product that we were asked to try called the Beaver Bot Cardboard Cutter. I was a little skeptical at first but after giving it a try and leaning more, it may be a craft tool that you might want to consider for you and your kids.

You might initially think to yourself why would we need a cutter to cut cardboard when I could just use a pair of scissors. And that was my original thought too. But once I started using it, I really got the idea that this tool could take paper crafting to a different creative level especially for kids.

Why The Beaver Bot Is A Good Investment

It may just seem like a really neat craft tool, but the Beaver Bot has lots of advantages well beyond just crafting.

  •  Ideal for parent-child bonding and group activities with friends. Strengthens connections and builds teamwork.
  •  Great for school projects and home art activities, sparking endless creativity in kids.
Safe & Eco-Friendly. Makes a wonderful tool for science exhibits.
  • Everyone can join in transforming simple materials into amazing art. Face-to-face interaction enhances communication skills.
  •  Handcrafting lets kids express their inner world through every drawing and paper cut.
  •  Boosts hands-on skills and imagination. Watch your child's potential soar as they create their own wonderful world.

Features of the Beaver Bot

This is a creative toy for children over four years old that creates all kids of three D papercrafts as well as single cuts.

While it is most often used to cut cardboard, you can also cut other materials too. The cardboard width for this cutter is 0.3. You know those Amazon boxes that you get in the mail. Most of them can be recycled with the Beaver bot.

You can also cut ordinary A4 paper, most Kraft paper and 0.1 thickness paper. So creative cutting with this tool can be used for a nice selection of materials.

The Beaver Bot has safety features built into the system. Fingers are protected from getting cut and there is no chance of any hair getting tangled in the product.

There is a collection cup in the back of the unit that collects the excess cardboard or paper so there is very little mess. That is a nice feature when you are working with kids.

The paper is fed into the cutter from one side, but you can cut in 360 directions which makes it possible to create a lot of different cut shapes.

Under the cover is a storage area for the tools that come with the unit. And periodically you can clean the area around the cutter inside the machine.

To start and stop the Beaver Bot, you press the nose on the front of the machine. They have really made it easy to use. No complicated instructions in the manual that comes with the machine.

There are also full sided templates that are available. These templates give you very clear instructions on how to make seasonal and other projects. I love these templates as they give clear instructions and ideas to take you to the next level with your Beaver Bot. Some of the templates use A2 paper. It makes an extended use beyond just the cardboard.
Tools can be stored within the space under the Beaver Bot cover

Beaver Bot Tools

Beaver Bot Website

There are plenty of ideas at the Beaver Bot website. There are tutorials that give some inspiration for sure. You can also find a few kits that that you can purchase to get you started. The kits have tutorials that show you how to use them but give plenty of room for imagination and personalization.

There is also a section on the website for educators. This is one area where I believe this tool could be very useful. I also noticed that they offer special discounts for bulk orders for schools. The Beaver Bot has some real potential for learning experiences in STEM classwork. It combines ideas that use math and engineering to create projects that will boost the learning experience while creating pride in completed projects.

What Can You Do With The Beaver Bot?

There are unlimited projects that you can create with your Beaver Bot. Because the tool starts with cardboard, you can find lots of material in the boxes that are shipped to your home. But you can also cut paper, kraft paper, cardstock, ordinary paper and thin leather. So, that gives both you and your children unlimited opportunities to create projects

I could defiantly see this as a tool for science and math fairs. You can do a lot with it to add on to your display.

Speaking of school there is a lot of information for schools and teachers on their website to add the tool to their curriculum.  They have educator supported ideas and templates for group projects. They also have special pricing for schools.

Other Ideas

There are plenty of other ideas that help adults get use from the Beaver Bot Cutting Machine.

Think about party decor. Whatever theme you might think of you can create decor with this tool. Think about signs, centerpieces, stand up three D figures. You could also create centerpieces for your tables. Let your imagination go and create themed pieces for your next party or celebration.

Weddings is another area where three D centerpieces could be created with your wedding theme.

Seasonal Decor is another area where the Beaver Bot would be the perfect tool to create things like hearts, leaves for fall, Christmas and Easter decor could be made for your home.

Since the Beaver Bot cuts paper, you can also use it to create greeting cards and other decorative pieces for scrapbook pages and journal pages. You can draw or trace a design and then simply cut it out on your Beaver Bot.

Here are our favorite tips for using the Beaver Bot Cutting Tool
  • Materials that you cut should be 2mm or less.
  • Materials should be flat, clean, and dry to avoid jamming or damage.
  • Always place your cardboard or paper on a flat, sturdy table to prevent uneven cuts.
  • Avoid glossy-coated cardboard that may slip.
  • Use painter’s tape or clips on the edges so the sheet doesn’t shift during cutting.
  • Use light, steady pressure: Don’t force it — let the tool punch through with its “ratchet” motion. For thicker board, go slowly and allow the blade to do the work.
  • For thicker or layered materials, cut in 2–3 passes instead of trying to punch through all at once.
  • Clean regularly: Brush off paper dust and cardboard fibers so they don’t clog the blade mechanism.
  • Check blade wear: If cuts start looking fuzzy or incomplete, inspect the blade — it may need adjusting or replacement.
  •  A tiny bit of dry lubricant (not oil) on the moving parts helps keep the motion smooth.

Final Thoughts On The Beaver Bot

When we started using the Beaver Bot, we started with the idea that it was a safe children's cutting too. But as we really gave it a lot of thought on the price of the tool, we really begin to see expanded uses both as family projects and as adult papercrafts.

We like that it uses recycled materials. With the amount of online shopping, we all do, it is wonderful to be able to use recycled materials to create projects. As we gave the Beaver Bot a lot of thought, we could see a great deal of things we could do with it.

We found that we could easily justify the price of $219-to $258 with the number of other projects and creative uses for this tool.

Cute Unicorn Card

Today I need to create a bright and cheerful birthday card for my great granddaughter who is turning three. I wanted something that would express her great grandpa's and my love for her. We also wanted something that would catch her attention. The stamp set was one that I got from a magazine. It was one of those sets that often is included when you get stamping magazines. So, I am unable to identify it. It also had the hearts, flowers and a mouse and dolphin (more about the dolphin on another day. The set also had some dies for the animals, but not for the flowers. Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results.
