Tea Bag Pockets

I love my tea. I have a cup everyday right around three p.m. Some teas come in little bags or pockets. They are little envelopes that the tea bags come in.

I love using things from my kitchen to create something out left over stuff that would generally go into the trash. Today I have been recycling tea bag packages into pockets for my junk journals and scrapbook pages.

Red Rose tea bags some in envelopes. I also believe Twining tea also comes in envelopes.

Some of the tea that I drink have clear envelopes and some are paper. The paper ones are a little easier to work with. But the cellophane ones offer different opportunities.

This is a great project to use up all those bits of pretty patterned paper that you have been hoarding.

The tea bag pockets could be used to hold some small journaling or a card.

This is a great recycling craft that can use up all those odds and ends that you have in your stash.

While You Are At It Save The Tea Bag!

Hopefully, you are a tea drinker. If not, have your friends or family save their tea bags for you. Or you can get a box of tea and brew some iced tea. The final option is that you can purchase a box of tea just to get the paper. Brew some iced tea instead of hot tea and you will get quite a few bags of tea. Take whatever option is best for you. Once you have opened the tea bag envelope, take some time to enjoy a cup!

If you do not want to buy a box of tea, the other alternative is to purchase empty tea bags. They actually do sell them on Amazon. The price of these is very reasonable.

Tea bags do come in different shapes. There are the standard square ones that are basically a folded over tube. And there are round ones. The round ones are mostly found in herbal teas.

Once you have brewed your tea and hopefully enjoyed your cup, it's time to save the bag.
  • First, squeeze whatever moisture you can get out of the bag,
  • Fold a piece of paper towel over to create a square.
  • Lay the tea bag on the paper towel. And allow it to dry for a day or two.
  • Turn the bag over and give it one more day to dry.
  • You can set these aside for another project.

Creating Tea Envelope Pockets

These little tea bag pockets are a perfect way to use those odds and ends of papers and embellishments that you have sitting in your stash. You could use flowers, gems paper, brads-jusr about anything that you have laying around.

Supplies

  • Teabag envelopes
  • Cardstock scraps- colored or print
  • Double-sided tape or glue
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Embellishments
  1. Cut across the top of the bag to make the edge even.
  2. Measure the teabag. Most of the ones that I had measured 4" by 4"
  3. Cut the paper to fit the size of the bag.
  4. Glue or tape the paper onto the bag.
  5. If you used glue. allow the glue to dry
  6. Add embellishments.

Adding Embellishments

Adding some little embellishments will add color and dimension to this product. Embellishments can be bits of anything that you may have. We have added a few choices that you may want to consider,

You are all done. You could use glitter or embossing paste. You could use plain cardstock and use distress inks too. You could also stamp an image for the front. Almost any technique that you could think of can be used for this project.
Just remember not to glue the opening closed on the top!

  • Use double sided tape to adhere ribbon to the top of the tea bag.
  • Stamp and fussy cut or die cut flowers or other stamped images as embellishments.

Till next time, Happy Crafting!

Cute Unicorn Card

Today I need to create a bright and cheerful birthday card for my great granddaughter who is turning three. I wanted something that would express her great grandpa's and my love for her. We also wanted something that would catch her attention. The stamp set was one that I got from a magazine. It was one of those sets that often is included when you get stamping magazines. So, I am unable to identify it. It also had the hearts, flowers and a mouse and dolphin (more about the dolphin on another day. The set also had some dies for the animals, but not for the flowers. Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results.
