Organize Your Craft Space-Zones

Organizing your craft space saves you time and money

Every Spring I take time to organize a part of my craft space. It makes me feel good to know exactly where all my supplies are. I am a zone person which means that I try my best to keep things which relate to each other in the same location.

We are going to share some ideas every day, to help you get started on your craft space. We encourage you to stop by every day.

Remember, this is your community, so we encourage you to add your tips and ideas too.
Anywhere you store like craft materials is a zone

So I thought it would be helpful to share some of these tips and ideas. Grab a pen and a pencil and we'll get started with  Day One

So, the first step is to think about your craft space is to think about zones. A zone is simply a place where you keep items that go and work together.

Your first step if to make a list of items that go together.

My zones are :

  1. Ink, markers and pens -includes accessories
  2. Paper- 12 x12 inch paper, specialty papers, 8 1/2 by 11 paper, paper pads and scrap paper
  3. Journals- any journals that you are currently working on
  4. Dies and Embossing Folders
  5. Paper Craft Mediums- Stickles, Nuvo Drops, Glimmer Pastes, ect
  6. Glitters
  7. Tools -scissors,
  8. Colored pencils- colored pencils, water color pencils, erasers, stumps and sharpeners
  9. Water Colors- water color sets, water color markers, water color brushes
  10. Cricut Explore and accessories-The Explore, mats, tools, vinyls
  11. Glues- white craft glue, tacky glue,
  12. Stamps- my collection of stamps
  13. Gemini and associated supplies-Gemini mats
  14. Craft and other tapes-double sided tape in different sizes, glue dots, foam tapes
  15. Quilling supplies-papers and tools
  16. Stencils
  17. Washi tape
  18. Scrap rack and contents
  19. Acrylic paints and brushes
  20. Cuttlebug and accessories
  21. Stencils
  22. Punches
  23. Embossing powders and tools
Everyone will have a different set of zones. A zone can be as small as a box containing items. Or it can be as big as a closet. It all depends on how much stuff you have and how many different types of crafts that you do. Every day, we are going to be talking about one of my zones and how I organize it.

It sounds like a lot, but remember that some of my zones are just single boxes. Just want to get you to think about what you have and how to put them together to get them organized.

You can probably think about the zones that you may have. Your list may be entirely different, smaller or larger than mine. For the time being, just make a list of your zones.

Step One -Consider Your Zones

Think about the different types of paper crafts that you do. Consider the type of products that you use and how you would zone them.

This is an easy task for day one !

We are going to give you ideas and some products that help you get some of the things you have organized so that you can spend more time crafting and less time looking for what you need.

I am blessed to have a craft room for my own use. It is a modest space, but it makes me happy. I have seen some stunning studios and she sheds, but I am happy in my space. So, no matter what your space is, let's take it a step further with some ideas and a few low cost products to get you to  a better place.

Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Today we are exploring back grounds for greeting cards using stamps and coordinating dies with embossing powders to create a totally different look. Welcome to another community tutorial as I take my journey through the Altenew Educator Class. I have to say that I love the soft look of these greeting cards.  For this technique you will need a stamp set with the coordinating dies. You will actually create a stencil using the dies for the image that you are using on your background. To create this stencil, you will want to use a heavy white cardstock, at least 90 Lbs. or more. That way, you will be able to use the stencil again. You also will want to make the stencil a bit larger than the actual card base. Overlapping will give you the best results. What It Takes To Create An Advanced Ink Layering Technique

Today we are sharing with you some advanced ideas and techniques in ink layering. We are also sharing some additional ideas to help you take your greeting cards to the next level. We are featuring a new tutorial as part of my Level Three accreditation in the AECP (Altenew Educator Certification Program). This is a program that I have been working through for some time. My goal has been to be able to learn and share with you the best ideas and techniques to help you be the best paper crafter you can be.  There are actually 5 levels of layering classes in this program. The project that I am focusing on is a more intricate stamp set called. Climbing Clematis.  There are actually 6 layers to the main flowers and several layers to each of the coordinating flowers. The coordinating flowers add a natural touch to the design.  Here are some of the techniques that I am focusing on for this tutorial: All About Layering 1-5 All About Layering Dies Edition Layering Guides Layering guides are an es

Have you ever found s loose stamp and could not figure out where that particular stamp set went?  Do not feel bad, we have all been there. Today, hopefully we are going to help you get your stamp sets organized, easy to find, and give you more time to have fun! If you are a stamp artist, then you know how much we love our stamp sets. Some of us think that collecting stamps is like another hobby! We love our stamps, and we love using them. But like any other tool, you need to care for your stamps. Part of that is organizing your stamps so that you can find what you need quickly and easily. We all get frustrated when our craft area is a hot mess! There are a lot of different things in our lives demanding our attention. And we want to spend time blowing off steam and relaxing in our craft space, I guarantee that takin
